Czubatka is a hill in Klucze (382 m above sea level) with a viewpoint over the Błędów Desert. It is the highest of the three viewpoints and a great place to watch the sunset. From here the yellow trail takes you down to the sand in about 20 minutes. Entry is free and the site is open all year.

How to get to Czubatka
In Klucze follow Rudnicka, then Podgórna and Górna streets – brown tourist road signs show the way. Only cars and motorbikes can drive up to the viewpoint; coaches drop passengers on Rudnicka street by the sports field. It is about 50 km from Kraków and 45 km from Katowice.

What to see and do
- Panorama – views over the desert, Klucze and the surrounding forests, with a telescope and a panorama board.
- Sunset – the sun sets over the desert, making this one of the best spots for evening photos.
- Walk to the sand – the yellow trail leads from Czubatka onto the desert and on to Błędów.
- Picnic – the gazebo with tables gives shade and shelter.
The tower next to the viewpoint is a forest fire lookout and is not open to visitors.
With children
Czubatka is good for a short family trip: gazebo, tables and a telescope, with the sand close by. The path to the desert is sandy, so leave the pushchair in the car – Róża Wiatrów is better with a pushchair.
Rules
Stay on marked trails and do not light fires. The northern part of the desert is a military training area and entry is prohibited. Organised events and photo shoots need permission from the Klucze municipality – see our visitor rules.
