Free entry, open all year. About 50 km from Kraków and 40 km from Katowice. Pick a viewpoint and go:
Róża Wiatrów
The easiest start: boardwalks, gazebos, toilets, wheelchair access. Parking: 100 spaces, 15 min free, then PLN 5/h (free parking also along the county road). Toilets PLN 3, playground, food truck area.

Błędów Desert – Poland’s largest desert
The Błędów Desert (Pustynia Błędowska) is one of the most unusual natural sites in Poland and Central Europe’s largest inland area of loose sand, far from any sea. It lies on the border of the Lesser Poland (Małopolska) and Silesia regions, between the villages of Błędów, Klucze and Chechło.
The desert covers about 32 km², and its wide sandy plains look like a piece of the Sahara. In the past, in the right weather, you could even see mirages. In the 20th century the area was used as a military training ground, which paradoxically helped preserve its desert character.
Today the desert is a protected Natura 2000 site with growing tourist facilities – ideal for walks, cycling, Nordic walking and landscape photography.
How to get to the Błędów Desert
The desert is easy to reach and well signposted from both Lesser Poland and Silesia.
By car:
- From Kraków: approx. 50 km (via Olkusz)
- From Katowice: approx. 40–60 km (via Dąbrowa Górnicza and Błędów)
- From Warsaw: about 3 hours (A1 or S7)
